Learning and Teaching
The MEC has developed a vibrant learning community through on-going teacher professional learning, joint student programs and projects, and the sustainability of high functioning teams that regularly meet to plan and implement events that develop teacher capacity and assist the improvement of educational outcomes for coalition students.
Teacher Professional Learning
Since 2006, regular professional learning opportunities have been organised by MEC teams that involve coalition teachers learning from each other. In this way, we can cater for the needs of the individual teacher as well address overall coalition objectives.
MEC Student Teacher Programme
The Maroondah Education coalition enjoys a relationship with Deakin University that involves the provision of student teacher supervision as well as extension programmes. Master classes are available across learning domains and teacher training engages twenty -two 4th year students in our colleges.
Student and Teacher Projects
The MEC is proactive in applying for funding to advance student learning across the coalition. The Success for Boys Program, the Next Practice Design Team Project and the Values in Action Schools Project all resulted in classroom and/or co-curricular programs that positively impacted on students’ learning.
